William Garcia Sancti Spiritus, Cuba

Over the internet I still gat the Inappropriate Cycles songs, all the good times we had together in this trip, all the good friends we found on this tour. Lots of photographs to show and lots of things to write. In the meanwhile I would like to thank everyone who help this expedition happened, all the bands and all sorts of people who went to the SR displays in the different cities, with out you it wouldn have been possible one of the pics you will see and all the testimonies to be told. Every one who seem to donated anything, from post, pics, cords, guitars, bottom, cloths, thanks so much this means so much for all the kids for what we have been doing for anyone this years with the project. I am hoping more people and more bands be able to to come and see what we are usually talking about what we have created alongside one another. This world will never be the same this also country will never be the same due to every little help of all of you, it is really hard but not a soul said it will have be easy, of course, if it will have been easy I reckon that we wouldn be doing it. Every single steps on the way counts and make certain all you do is helping website visitors to have a different point of view and is also making people get reach as individuals and national spirit.

Ok, well, My spouse and i sitting in a hotel room in Higher toronto with my friends Sandy Phimester, photography extrordinaire and our new close friend, Calgary Jimmy Gamble. We watching for about half an hour to get around the shuttle back to the airport for your 6:15 flight to help Varadero.

A lot has been going through my thoughts lately. Cuba is a country that is at war for Five decades. It a country where the individuals live in difficult circumstances due to the political situation both interior and exterior the country. I think that providing the joy that comes from punk rock rock to the young people inside Cuba is very important. In fact, it the fact which I have seen as the most important thing I could do for several years.

Looking back, throughout the last 4 years, I had an opportunity to interact with a lot of amazing people. That project has allowed musicians, musicians and other sympathizers to use their innovative talents to make the world somewhat better. In the lead up to this specific tour, we had a lot of support. Ben Disaster, The Mandates, and the Collapse played a motion picture in Calgary and donated the things they could to the cause. We all been able to use that money to be able to cover part of the bus expenses on this tour. We had a motion picture at the Baby Seal Pub in Edmonton, and Diehatsu Hijets, Book Associated with Caverns, Camembert and Morals played along with donated everything to help us handle our Cuban tourmate needs on the road. The actual kick off show in Edmonton brought the AK 747 and Vibrant Hope together with the Vicious Fertility cycles to get them on the bus.

We also had the great support of Matt Jeffries, of Stylewise Mass media who designed the beautiful poster, and also Jen Fritz of Fritz Media who treated press for the Vancouver indicate. We had a full page while in the Vancouver Sun and protection in the Province and the Direct. This really is a great thing. Most of us appreciate everyone who has take their time or money towards ensuring all of our success. Ernesto is the OG Cuban punk rock bassist. He was the first bassist in Eskoria, the seminal Cuban punk rock-band that carried the flash light alone through the darkness from the 90 and Cuba special phase. The discussion he covers happened on our last quest to Cuba with Edmonton Hangloose. The bass sounds came from someone at an Edmonton gain at the Crown and Focal point last March. I didn be able to talk to the person who donated that, but I think they were friends with the Old Sins producers, and they brought the largemouth bass and a practice amp. Hence, whoever you are, I hope you see this and understand how much your act of kindness method for Ernesto, and all the other Cuban Freakies. Drew

I'm sure that Solidarity Rock is one of the best things that received happened to the young punks plus freakies in the island but most of most, without being regionalist to the centre of your caiman. It no secret to anyone who what is born, grown, plus developed in La Havana or in Naguilandia (the particular eastern part of the island) keeps there and the people from the particular centre have to travel generally there to experience it, which is tricky, owing to the problems we in Cuba face with transportation these days. We are not here to talk about this kind of, but rather of the important things which are awakened by Drew, the actual Solidarity Rock group which big project. My music group Akupunktura doesn always know how to say thank you, working with my voice alone, but it not because of the language. They have got managed to overcome and each time to break the barriers in which force us as humankind beings with a will to do this work, to stop. They do them to let the world know that throughout Cuba we make Rock and Roll, to prospects who don believe that whatever we do has a name. Cuban rock. Even though most of our affect is from English speaking companies, we still make it audio very Cuban. The importance of this assistance cannot even be questioned. For a nice and a rocker, a creepy, a punky or whatever they choose to call me for a long time with this particular not ashamed to say it, hahahaha, i have never seen anything in this way. In my own words specifically, I have to tip my crown hat twice because Now i'm one of the blessed, but that is not necessarily the reason I speak very well of the project. I even now know very well all the difficulties that the youth who want to produce music in this land nonetheless face, and that this very little group of persons has started out a door to limitless possibilities through this societal exchange in which the Cubans have really benefited.

We should be thankful as a nation, not only ourselves, with the help they have been spreading all over without any personal interests. My spouse and i faced a situation with the artist in my band who had the bass I played out. He did not want to be inside band the rest of us wanted in addition to everything always came back that he owned the devices, so we had to do while he said. After much difficulty in addition to fighting, I kicked him or her out of the band. I had simply no regrets, even though I will no longer had a bass to play, we swear I would rather cease my band that letting go of my anger. With waste I went to Drew and talk to him together with Invoice Garcia. I told him that things were really difficult personally, because truly people, where could I get a striped bass that would help me continue with the perform of the band and seven ages worth of shows and fests? Well, not to tire an individual, but cool as a cucumber, Attracted carried my weight for his shoulders and the next calendar month I had a Squire Fender base, that might at minimum cost me 200 CUC or more. Each time a band invited by the work comes to Cuba, we grow a great deal. As freakies, we have our challenges solved regarding strings, drumsticks, cymbals and in many cases amps. Gentleman, the truth is that we know we are growing up in this motion as the sons of only fathers, only now experiencing the delight of playing through beginners guitar amps. To lend such a support in the name involving Abercrombie And Fitch Clothing For Men simply helping others is one thing I have witnessed very few situations, if ever. So I wish and also hope that all the people active in the project can understand this words when I say thanks to everybody and thanks Drew regarding letting me be part of a thing so good and so big from the names of the place the ones I represent, Cienfuegos.

On December 16, 2011 Sancti Spiritus, that city joined with Edmonton and Calgary for a photographic exhibition presenting the work of the Solidarity Good ole' project and a music show featuring Cancerbero, Gatillo, Resistancia and Arrabio. The photography exhibition started at 7:00 and everything seemed to be ready for the concert functionality in La Feria (Disco Temba).

The workers with La Feria toldus they had no comprehension of the programming or the live performance plans that had been taken over by Provincial Culture Institution and the AHS. People who came from all the neighboring towns and cities began to fill the spot paying 5 pesos for admittance, the bands were there waiting around but the audio technician in addition to owner of the sound system didn arrive. Shortly before 9:00 I decided to go look for the actual missing sound man by using a friend and his car. Many of us went back towards his dwelling and could not find the pup. We headed back observed him at the concert web site, not behind the noise desk, but walking gladly, holding hands with his significant other. We stopped and talked with him, after unlimited excuses, he started talking about revenue and asked how many people had paid and how very much he would get to do the show. I told him gently that if it was up to everyone, I would pay him Two thousand pesos as a good will touch, to which he replied of which no one wanted to work with good ole' bands because rock rings break and destroy the sound equipment, and PA, and that none of the sound guys or owners of the sound methods want to work with rock artists because the sound of rock music breaks the speaker systems and ruins the built-in amplifiers.

At Louboutin New Zealand the end of the conversation Choice to change the concert venue. we went back to the present, talked with the bands who were there and all agreed to conduct the concert at the Casa de Joven Creador, the AHS headquarters. The last exhibit we had there was in 12 2007 with 7and7is, Arrabio and Limalla. All of us spoke with the managers on the Feria site, and they returned your money they had charged at the front door and off we traveled to AHS. It was already 10:30 by the time we began to support all our equipment, drums, built-in amplifiers, and PA, all of which was furnished by the Solidarity Rock Rock and roll Solidario project. We soon we'd everything ready for Gatillo, then Santa Clara Resistancia and Jatibonico Cancerbero. It all ended around 1:30 in the morning when a fight broke out in which stopped us in Arrabio, the band based in Trinidad from being able to play.

From this experience, we must sketch a clear accounting. We fortuitous today to have the necessary apparatus to perform concerts in tiny spaces on our own without having to depend upon anyone else. We depend on our own selves and no other person or association so that we can achieve this by our own means. We only must discover and book a venue. This is certainly thanks Nike Air Max Women to Solidarity Rock many of the bands, musicians, promoters and friends who in one method or another have been supporting us all during these 5 years so that now we can be where we've been. Thanks to all these years of challenge, the sacrifices and relationship you provided made sure this kind of concert happened. Without the help of every bit of you this would not have been possible.

Similar to the former Ussr, post revolution Cuba was not swaying and rolling. The global teen bourgeousie's music of choice failed each class and colonialism taste benchmarks decreed by commie culturecrats. If you want to mosh not mambo, you did it through breaking the law.

As ever, the time tried adage that what is not allowed is all the more desired demonstrated true and underground steel music flourished.

Time handed down and it became a bit better to tune in and turn up or else drop out in Cuban society. The most important problem was coming into the best gear to bring the noises, so most artists stuck with traditional acoustic brass and percussion combos playing to vacationers. Since 2008, Edmonton, Alta. based type grass roots group Solidarity Rock and roll has worked to establish connections involving Canadian and Cuban bands in the city of Sancti Spiritus. To date, four excursions by Canadian bands coming from Albterta to Cuba have enriched combination cultural gigging and also delivered the necessary equipement donations to musicians about the island nation. This year, Calgary motorcycle punks the Vicious Series head to a seven date/10 working day long Cuban tour with metallists Arrabio. The group features Solidarity Rock's Cuban counterpart Invoice Garcia who is booking the visit through the Hermanos Saiz Association. Most of the schedules across the country will include local functions and the Havana date (Jan. 15) is an eight group honor to the late William Fabian with Eskoria, a popular punk unit. It's unlikely that any of these acts is in the mainstream.

For the Terrible Cycles, the tour can be a dream come true. Bassist Rob Wright looks forward to the kickoff this weekend with Rich Hope His or her Evil Doers and the AK Ugg Boots 747s.
